This seems to be a pretty good camera. It seems to be a little high priced, as you can get 3 MP cameras from other manufacturers for not much more. But I have always liked Canon's cameras and chose this one.

Pros: image quality is pretty good. Very easy to use.

Cons: It takes a little long to focus. The flash sucks: it is too weak and too close to the lens and you can't attach external flashes. There is a camera shake icon, but no indication of what the shutter speed is going to be. And the batteries. Not just a con, but a big problem. Also, being used to SLR responsiveness, going back to P&S (non-)responsiveness (such as slow zoom and focusing) takes a lot of getting used to. Not enough manual features (such as shutter or aperture setting, in the "manual" mode.

While I listed a lot of cons, I still think this is a good camera for one looking for an easy to use P&S, especially for non-photographers. I think more experienced photographers may be frustrated at its lack of manual controls and may be more inclined to use a G2.

Problems:

Eats batteries like they are going out of style. I finished 3 sets of alkalines and have only taken about 190 photos. The second set was eaten in only about 20 shots.
