If you insist on buying Sony Mavica, then you must be aware that it is a concept built around the Memory Stick. That is your first problem, as generics are thin on the ground and though prices have come down, MS is still pricy. Equally, unlike Fuji and Olympus, Sony is not very generous with the essential add-ons, like charger kits and cases, etc. Having said all that, the DSC P50 is well-built, attractively styled and takes pretty good pics! The AF assist light is a big bonus and compensates for the stingy approach to batteries. Image quality is above average, colours are good, but the flash can be very harsh, giving an orange glow to images. The menu system is not that easy to negotitate and the buttons to access is are fiddly. The camera is slow in operation, slow to focus, but does give a useful auto preview. Sony does things in a very Sony way. It's a good camera, but not the best value and not without its foibles.
Problems:
As above, bleaching flash, fiddly menu access.
