Bought this camera about 2 months ago as an upgrade to the Finepix 1300 I had been using for the last year. Some retailers sell this camera for as much as £700! I got mine on Tottenham Court Road, London for £350 and that included a free NiMH battery charger, set of batteries and an extra 32Mb CF card! Not a bad deal.
So far am very pleased with the results. It is of study design.
The 4 times optical zoom is excellent.
I tend to use the 1600 X 1200 resolution, and fine quality to save card space. These print out excellent quality prints at A4 on my HP 950c printer using photo plus paper.
The pre set specs for Macro, potrait, landscape, night and text are very useful.
Even considering the faults I have mentioned, I can recommend this camera to anyone.
Problems:
The worst positioning of a tripod mount on any camera I have ever seen.
The mode dial is very easily accidentally knocked to the on position.
As with most digital cameras, the lack of a shutter release tread for a cable release in a pain.
Occassionally the camera does not respond to being switched on! Needs to have battery panel opened and closed. This is slightly worrying.
Lack of a descent comprehensive manual
