I previousy owned a first generation HP...which was quite good for its day. The difference between a 4 megapixel and a 1.3 is like night and day! I am most impressed with the DX4900. Initially, I was going to purchase an Olympus 4 megapixel in the $700 range...but then the 4900 was announced for $399. The quality of the pictures is very good, although I do note overexposure situations when shooting from shade toward light. A 128 meg card is the way to go....about 60 shots at 4 megapixels. I purchased the dock, which is quite easy to use and worth the investment...but the battery pack so far...sucks. It does not seem to charge correctly nor hold a charge. I bought a backup battery pack...and so far not impressed with either pack. I contacted Kodak, and their representative had me charge/discharge the battery packs 5 times. Seems to have helped. I have read previous reviews that note battery problems. Unfortunately, if you want the dock attachment, no other brand of battery can be used. If you don't buy the dock...get another brand with a charger. Overall, the camera is simple to use, good quality, automatic lens cover and very good point/shoot. The software is excellent with print and email capability. Editing software is quite basic. No need to reformat 4 megapixel shots via Adobe. Just add an email address...and they are sent and apparently reformatted by the software. That is a great feature! The LCD is almost impossible to see in daylight...but all digial cameras fall into this category. Lots of camera for the price!

Problems:

Battery packs are not very good, and do not hold charge for more than 15-20 pics at 4 megapixel. White balance is an issue...but practice may improve my technique in this area.
