I purchased my G1 over a year ago. It worked well to start with and I took a lot of pictures with it (7000) I am a real fan of canon cameras having used EOS slrs for years. But I have been disappointed with the focusing particularly at close range and recently the camera developed an electrical fault when I was changing batteries. Having searched the internet...I have found other reports of G1s doing this. Canon wanted to charge almost £400 to mend the fault. This seems to be their standard charge as others have reported similar figures. So I have just purchased a Nikon instead.
Problems:
Focusing at close range and of light subjects on dark backgrounds is poor.
The camera developed an electrical fault and Canon wanted approx £400 to mend the fault.
