The Oly 2100UZ is my second digital camera and I've used it for approximately 8 months. It took me some time to convince myself that digital photography had "come of age" and the Toshiba PDR-M4 that I purchased first gave me a taste digital possibilities with a 2.1 megapixel camera. Coming from a 35mm background (Minolta XD-11 with full range of Rokkor lenses), I missed the ability to change focal lenghts and the zoom capability so critical in framing photographs while using the Toshiba. Although I would prefer a larger CCD in my Oly, I find the incredible 10X optical zoom more than makes up for the 2.1 megapixel image size. This lens is truly superb and the image stabilization at full zoom works remarkably well.

I won't get into all the technical details regarding this camera, as they can be found elsewhere at this and other camera review sites. This camera is fully featured offering full manual, aperature and shutter priority with several metering choices. I love the fact that AA batteries which can be found in any country are used to power the camera! The Oly high capacity nicads last a lot longer than the proprietary battery Toshiba uses. If I could wish for only one improvement to this camera, it would be to increase the CCD to at least 5 megapixels.

Problems:

My only complaint with the Oly 2100-UZ is the on/off switch. It is too easy to reset all of your camera presets to factory defaults by turning this switch a little too far beyond the on position. Otherwise, I feel the camera is close to perfect for the advanced photographer.
