HAd the G2 for about three weeks. First DC after 20 years with Nikon SLR's. I really liked the image quality and was having fun taking a ton of shots and getting the results right away.
then I had the well known isue with the ZOOM button going all the way out and never returning and the loss of the menu controls. I sent mine back to Amazon (30 day returns) but they did not have another so I had to reconsider. I emailed Canon and they basically blew me off,
said to return the camera to them to fix and that this was not a major issue. EXCUSE ME i just paid $800 for a camera, I want it to " TAKE A PICTURE". Their response sent me off to the Minolta Dimage71 (coming tomorrow).
I like the camera but did not want to get burned down the road whenit blew up again. There are numerous reports of this on this web site. It is just news to canon USA.
Problems:
Stuck zoom button
Loss of Controls (except when you press the zoom button, but the zoom oes not work)
EXTREMLEY Poor response from Canon USA. they would not admit to any type of firmware issues. I returned the camera to Amazon and purchased a MINOLTA Dimage 7i.
