I have owned this camera for a year now and am still learning to use all the features. Yes, I get the "purple fringies" (chromatic aberrations) but love the small size and long zoom. I get approx 150 shots per charge of my NIMH batteries, so I only have to carry around one extra set of recharged batteries. I took the camera to Italy a few months ago and am delighted with the results. (see my photos at http://community.webshots.com/user/brooks461s
Yes, you will notice the purple fringies, but for art shots I could remove them with Photoshop, if I wanted to.
Please let me know what you think of the results from my first intensive effort with the camera (through the guestbook on Webshots).
Using a (San Disk) card reader has been great: I always have one card in the reader and another in the camera.
I bought the polarizer, but I find that the blue skies are blue enough naturally -- making the polarized skies look "Photoshopped."
Problems:
Since I have two 128 mb Smart Media cards, I always use the Super High Quality option, but can't figure out how to make the camera remember that's what I want.
Also, I have never been able to use the stitching option that I paid for (having bought the Olympus Smart Card) for panoramic shots. The software simply doesn't work for me. Probably I should print out ALL the manual, instead of only the pages I needed at the moment. A nice touch would have been giving us the whole manual on paper, to carry with us for when we need it.
