I've waited a few months to post this. The 5700 is my third digital (all Nikons previously) and thus far, the best of the lot. Resolution and colors are superb. EVF first class (and a mark of distinction in this class of camera). Coupled with the MBE5700 battery grip, the best feel and fit of any digitial I've ever held (owned or otherwise).
Typical Nikon issues include clipping of highlights and low light focusing problems, but I've managed to figure out ways to out-manuver them and these are not sufficient to cause me to not like the camera.
If you're a serious amateur (or looking to move up to that stage) this camera is well worth considering. As a former long time professional, now "keen amateur" (Phil's Categories), I have a fair amount of experience with cameras of all types. I know this camera is not for everyone, but no camera is. But this is certainly a "must consider" if you're looking for a camera of this caliber.
