I have used this camera for a year. It was my first digital camera. The quality is excellent. I still have some trouble sorting out the menu and the settings but I think it would be fine if I spent more time on it. It would be nice if there was an option to manually override the automatic settings but one cannot expect that in an entry-level camera - as a point-and-shoot camera it is great. The LCD monitor is hard to see in bright light but, considering the high quality of the photos, that is a small point. I don't know how durable the plastic body is but it is light and easy to handle. I was apprehensive about making 8x10 prints but was I surprised. The detail and the sharpness were incredible. I have taken a number of close-up photos of cats' faces - they are beautiful photos - so sharp and realistic you feel like you could reach out and touch them. I have also taken photos of people jumping on my horse - again, the camera performed very well - caught the action well. Indoor shots have also been excellent. The flash works well. I am in the process of buying an Olympus 4 MP camera but I am a bit concerned as to whether it can measure up to the FinePix 2600Z. The FinePix 2600Z is a great little camera I would highly recommend.
Problems:
Hard to see LCD monitor in bright light. Operating the menu options can be confusing. Little manual control. These are very minor problems though considering it is made to be a point-and-shoot camera and is reasonably priced.
