I bought the canon s230 a couple days ago and I'm very pleased with it. Although it cost me $620 (CDN), same as $400 US flat: I still think it was worth the money.

I was torn between the s30 and the s230...but the new DIGIC processor on the s230 made it a no brainer...

The Quality of the pictures are amazing, very sharp. I still have a lot to learn about this camera: digital zoom, manuals, using different ISO speeds...

The video mode is GREAT, 640x480 mode with audio is unbelievable. it seems to have a bt of a "humming" noise in the background when I play it in my windows Player, but no big deal really...

I highly recommend a 128+ CF card, i bought my 128 CF Card for $100 (CDN) which is about $65 US. And i'm glad I did.

Battery Life: after reading many reviews saying how much the battery life was very bad, i must dissagree. it's GREAT. I have yet to re-charge the battery and I have shot many video clips and about 100 Pictures with the LCD on the whole time.

Overall: Great Camera I highly recommend it, I now take it with me practically everywhere.

Problems:

Red-Eye...its' going to get very annoying to get rid of every red-eye on photoshop or photo-impression. It seems that the "red eye redcution" flash does not do much," unless i'm doing something wrong...which i'm not...lol

No Carrying Case...I'm going to have to purchase one myself; there's no way i'm going to let this beautiful little camera get scratched up.

Extra Accessories are very expensive such as a AC Adaper Kit and extra batteries. pretty shitty, but Canon is definatly making a killing.
