P1 users unite!

Problems:
I've had this camera for two years and for some time got very good results. I do a lot of underwater photography and except for the lack of a good flash I've got some really nice pictures.
However, for more than a year I've had all kinds of problems with my batteries. They either won't charge, won't last or require some really convoluted/random/magical steps to get the batteries to charge. And this happens on new batteries too.
Lately, the camera has been taking some really horrible pictures, even in broad daylight. Most pictures come out grainy and blurry. Every now and then I still get a good picture... but it's getting to the point where I'm merely wasting my time when using this camera.
