A few serious problems in this pretty good camera.

Updated this review in 10 May 2003.

I've now used this camera for half a year. I know it's pros and cons. In short

Pros

- excellent picture quality (where not ruined, see cons)
- very good LCD screen image and menus
- manual control and presets
- lots of features
- fast USB connect
- solid construction
- good battery life

Problems:

Cons

- when using max aperture and wideangle there is strong corner vignetting. I mean STRONG. I tend to favour this shooting mode so it's a big problem to me.

- at wideangle there is noticeable lack of sharpness (blur) at left and right border areas. This is very noticeable in forest pictures where there is lot of branches.

- you need two hands to operate the camera

- when shooting you stick your nose at the LCD and your left index finger at your goggles. both get dirty.

- the viewfinder is an insult. very cheap. very bad. there is even dust inside of it which you can't clear. the finder shows only 80% of the area and the center is not in the center of the picture. the finder is sinked inside the chassis at the back side of the camera in such a way it is impossible to clear. the finder was dirty all over when I bought it new.
