Been using a IxusV for about 2 years, I decided I wanted to go for a more feature rich camera. Decided to get the Canon S45 due to portability coupled with a lot of manual controls
Haven't been disappointed. I always loved my Ixus and I'm glad to see the same user-friendliness has found it's way in this S45. It's a very easy to use camera which allows a beginning photographer to learn some more about f-stops and such.
I was even more amazed finding out that this camera has almost all functionality of the G3 (except for hotshoe, 4x optical and slightly slower lens (f2.8 vs f2.0).
Picture quality is great though. AF in low light is pretty good. Having a blast learning more&more about photography.
Problems:
pretty heavy, not as portable as an ixus, but smaller than a G3
do think maybe I'll need a 'bigger' camera in the future that supports larger zooms, externel flash etc, things you can't expect from a 'compact' though, so not really a flaw
