An e-bay purchase. I am 100% satisfied with the camera and its features. It is the top-rated camera in its class (2mp) by Consumer Reports (my purchasing bible). Here are a couple of recommendations/pointers if you are considering the purchase:
- Get NiMh batteries and a charger (pretty inexpensive on-line or elsewhere). Camera seems to work faster, and batteries last much longer than NiCd.
- I have read complaints about docking station. You don't need it for battery charging if you have NiMh or NiCd, and downloading is *very easy* using supplied Kodak software and the USB cable that comes with the camera.
- Purchase a card-reader (also very inexpensive) for downloading pictures. Will save having to hook actual camera up to USB chord.
- Camera does not have a b/w option for picture-taking, but don't sweat ...you can modify to b/w easily using the software, and the quality is excellent.
- Kodak picture software works very well and allows modifications (brightness, contrast, red-eye elim, etc.)
- Picture quality is all that it is cracked up to be (excellent).
Problems:
Within days of purchase, the battery compartment door latch broke. I called Kodak warranty dept (excellent service BTW), and unfortunately it is not covered under warranty - reason is that there have been almost no complaints about this. E-Bay seller has agreed to take the camera back.
