I've had the camera for 3 weeks (a bit expensive here in NZ -- approx. US$1150) and I must say that the pics are simply fantabulous! It did take a couple of nights to read through the manual but I would say that the best way to get to know the CP5700 is by using it.

For those of you with big hands (like I have,) the MB-E5700 battery pack is a must... and makes the camera feel just right. The HR-5700 lens hood does make a difference especially on very sunny days... and the WC-E80 wide angle lens (coupled with the UR-E8 adaptor) was great during an airshow -- though be warned that it is HEAVY (talk about camera elbow!) and makes you look like you are carrying a canon!

I probably need to get the TC-15ED Zoom but... I think I'll grab a Speedlight first! (all my accesories and CF cards ordered on-line from PROVANTAGE.COM -- surprisingly competitive prices, one of the few e-stores who ship stuff overseas and have reasonable rates)

And yes, bring at least 2 256mb cards with you if you love to take photos in FINE, or HI... though I would love to afford the 1GB IBM microdrive!

I'm not sure what to do with the RAW mode especially when you can only open it with Nikon's proprietary software.

Overall, this is one funtastic camera! I am glad I got it!

Problems:

The batteries seem to run out a lot quicker compared to my Sony DSC-P9, and my Canon EOS 500N -- then again, both these cameras don't have an EVF... or electronic 8X zoom.

Focusing in dark situations, focus mechanism noise, manual focus would have been a lot better if there was a real manual focus ring... though I probably will get used to it soon.
