I just picked up my sony dsc-717 with the new retail price of $799.95 and love it! I've been looking at purchasing a digital camera for the past few months and looked at everything from the Fuji 602 to the Nikon 5000. i looked at everything above 4 mega pixel but found that the one camera i came back to was the Sony 717. the extra's for the camera are a bit high but for the most part, the camera is worth it. the picture quality is great, the Lens is awesome, along with the easy to use menu. the 32mb memory stick is ok and holds 12 pictures with highest resolution but would recommend getting at least 2 128mb memory sticks or buy the new 256mb stick that's available for purchase at B&H already.
if you looking at buying this camera go out and buy it!!!!!
Problems:
No matter what you read all cameras have their Pro's and Con's but when your purchasing a camera look for what you want the camera to do for you. if the Con's are things your not going to be concered with then it's not a Con for you. Technology will change from month to month and even though most people want the latest greatest how often can the average person afford that. be happy with what you got and buy the camera that fits your needs...dont buy a camera because of its many features you may never use.
