I'm one of those people who research everything to death. I visited this site (and others) at least 50 times reading reviews, etc. before deciding on a camera. I was leaning towards the Nikon D100, but was hesitant because of price and some of the reviews I had seen. AND I really wasn't ready to spend $2000 on another camera. I finally took the plunge and bought my Sony for about two weeks and took my first pics. I have a sorry computer, but managed to upload them to the lab and w/no adjustments, I LOVE THEM. The quality is really good and to most people, there is no difference in the quality vs. film. The one difference (that I love) is the control I now have. Before, I had to develop 200 photos to get the 25 good ones. Now I can choose, crop and correct (w/photoshop) the ones I want, saving me lots of money and time. The camera's easy to use (read the book first, it helps!) and to hold. One caveat for me ... I took some photos of my son's baseball game (setting the shutter speed to catch the action) and the photos are wondeful, you can see the baseball tipping off the glove, the squinting eyes, the red clay flying. Thank you everyone for posting here and helping choose this camera. I'm interested in getting the telephoto lens for this camera to see how it works. I'll let you know.
