I am very disappointed with this product
Problems:
Although a few of my friends are happy with 707 and 717, I am very disappointed with this product.
The first time I come to the store to buy DSC717 I was holding a list of serial numbers for cameras with the sharpness problem published by Sony. So I made sure to avoid those series… and after a short testing I returned that camera because of the same problem.
I’ve read so many great reviews about DSC707 and 717. I decided to get this camera second time. At first it seamed OK, but soon I encountered two problems:
1. The sharpness was not good in following conditions:
- Picture is taken in the room, at night time
- Automatic or Program Auto exposure Mode
- Distance is about 4-5 meters (no zooming)
- Light condition is good (internal lights are ON) so
that hologram AF does not engage
- External SONY HVL-F1000 flash is used
2.Camera turns ON by itself when I plug in an external flashlight.

Sony advised me that this camera needs service….
Since I do not like to have service on the product I just bought, I returned this one too.
After some hesitation but still influenced by the great reviews I bought 3-rd camera in a row.
!!! I’ve got the same problems again….
I must also add that I bought two cameras at Tweeter and last one at Circuit City.
