I have bought a series of digital cameras ranging in price from $700 to $2000, always going for image quality, reputation of maker and control over the feature set. And I always end up with cameras so large that I never seem to have them with me for spontaneous shooting. Until now. The Pentax Optio S is truly a pants-pocket camera (unprotected so far, and without incident). I figured out 90% of the features w/o opening the manual. I love that I can select which settings revert to default when you power down, and which ones are stored (like flash off, sensitivity set to 200, etc.). That is representative of the thoughtfulness of its design. All of my other cameras are more impressive, and I will need them for work, but this one's in my pants pocket, always.
