This camera rocks hard for something so easy to use. The pictures are all crisp and clear even when you are in macro mode 10 cm away from the object. Battery life is pretty good ( if it lasts a whole day with me it's gotta be pretty good. Yes I was even taking photo's of my shoes... ) Optical Zoom is great, And even though everyone Disses Digital Zoom, I found it great and nearly as clear as the optical zoom.

The Video Recording Function is pretty cool. It's not as bad as everyone says because you get sound with it as well for recording funny conversations and the frame rate/quality is good. However, The Microphone on the camera doesnt seem directional, and so it records alot of ambient sound instead of the object it is targeted at.

It's cool to use as a webcam. And the software that comes with it is quite easy to use. (I'm still win2k)

The difference between 3 megapixel and 4 megapixel is so huge... I can never go back.

Note - I did not have any dead pixels.

All in all a very nice camera with alot of features.

Problems:

Now we get to the bad parts...
- This Camera costs AUS$1050 retail. (No I didnt pay this much)
- The coating is NOT scratchproof. If you hold it for long enough, your skin can leave a mark (like buffing a rough surface mark)... I couldnt beleive it myself.
- The Camera heats up like a mofo if its on long enough.
- 32 meg memory card that comes with it is a PITTANCE. Sure it gives you incentive to get a bigger one, but at that cost and 4 megapixels... Under 20 shots in high resolution and time to download again. Canon is so cheap.
- Build Quality is NOT GOOD. The switch to change from capture to play mode is held on losely and looks like its going to fall off (Seriously It is loose... like held on by a peice of plastic). There are GAPS inbetween the panels. The Memory card cover/clasp thing is badly sized It does not sit flush and has movement when closed.
- When using the viewfinder (you know... when you dont feel like using the LCD Screen) THERE ARE GAPS WHERE LIGHT COMES IN!!! That's right, if you look through the viewfinder, you can see the gap where the zoom goes in and out and light filters through there to the viewfinder. Canon should have at least sealed it up or something. So when you look through the viewfinder you see the normal field of vision + a line of broken light underneath it.

Maybe I'm too critical, but if I'm paying over $1k for a camera, There'd be a few things that you would expect. My final comment is that it is a great camera with great qualities. The picture resolution and clarity is CRAZY (in a good way), but it is let down by poor design/construction. There isnt a major flaw, but the number of small flaws lets it down bady. I have no hesitation on recommending this camera to anyone who needs a mid to entry level high grade camera as the features and photo quality is top notch.
