Only reason I bought this camera was because I needed a camera for Underwater photography. I have the G3 which I wanted to take underwater but there is not a lot of options for an underwater case - the options which are available cost more than the camera!
So, Went to the shops and asked the asistant for an underwter digital camera - out of the few available, I decided on this one. The results are very good but I am unable to sync it with the external strobe.
The external stobe fires using the flash on the camera as a trigger. There must be some sort of pre-flash 'cause the stobe fires before the shutter opens.
Underwater photography without flash is still good although the use of a filter would be a benefit.
Out of the water, the results are very good for a budget camera. The whole pakage cost me $800 (Singapore) which is around $450 US - this is much cheaper than I could have got a G3 case alone.
Features for this camera almost equal the G3. The movie mode however is much better on the A70 - the best I have seen on any digicam, a true 640 x 480 resolution - fantastic and the results are great.

Problems:

As with many many reviews, the zoom switch seems a little flimsy but then again I have not had any problems with it - has anyone actually had it failing?
One downside with Canon cameras is that you can't zoom when taking movies. You zoom first and then start recording - you can't change the zoom during record. Not sure why Canon do this!
