Extraordinary camera--highly recommended for the beginner who wants to take pictures while s/he learns. I read the 2 page "quick start" instructions, put the unit on full auto, and enjoyed superior shots from the outset. Wonderfully small, the clarity of the images and the brilliance of the colors is remarkable. This is the camera for those who are intimidated by all the jargon and sophistication usually associated with digicams. The stitching feature is awesome. Went to Yosemite last week and then combined (with little effort) 4 shots of giant sequoia trees into a single, beautiful, image. (Sorry, I don't know how to upload those to a site yet--give me some time.) I hand the camera to my wife, and she snaps away at flowers, birds, the occasional deer, and a host of other things. Canon has produced a very intuitive machine with an excellent feature set. True, no filters, add on lenses, etc.--but this just keeps things simple and quick. I find the black plastic/metal attractive, although I would have preferred all metal--but there's always trade offs. I recommended this camera to one of my clients and he bought it immediately and raves about it. Thank you Canon.

Problems:

Some niggles exist, but I suspect they're my fault.
