This is the perfect size for me. Always wanted a twist-type coolpix but the 9xx and 4500 were always too bulky for me. Now they designed this. If you are already used to the other coolpix cameras then this is similar in layout - very easy to use controls. I came from a Coolpix 880. Very solid build and finish. LCD excellent in outdoors.
Noise can mostly be fixed with Neat Image, if you have the patience to put the shots through that step. Also upping the exposure decreases the noise slightly.
I might repurchase this camera if Nikon drops the price and fixes the noise issue. I would also change the poor ratings in the review to very positive at that time.
Problems:
it's true that this camera puts unacceptable amounts of noise, even in outdoor sunny shots you get some where there should be none. More of a problem at this price (if it was a couple hundred dollars cheaper i'd care less). The S400 gets my money in the end due to more manual controls, just wish it had at least the flip-out LCD like G3/G5.
