I owned my sony v1 for a month and I found it compact and capable. Spec-wise it isn't as wide (34mm vs 28 mm) as Nikon coolpix 5400 and not as fast as cannon powershot g5 (2.8 vs 2.0). However, it has the best electronics and optics, respectively from sony and Carl Zeiss. The most significant edge in electonics is it sensistivity ISO 800, at which the camera produces noise as low as that by g5 at ISO 400. Therefore, V1 is virtually as fast as g5. Thought nilon 5400 is one stop wider, it is unacceptable to me for having no AF assistance for low light or dark environment. When compared to my friends' photo shot with g5 or 5400, I am conviniced that Sony has again strict the best balance between specification and performance. It is a camera you would love. Highly recommended.

Problems:

Sony shown off too much in its miniaturization. Sony is manufacturing this camera as it did for MD Walkman. I has to say that the camera is too compact for large hand people who would find no space on the camera for his left hand. On the positive side, you may regard it as a masterpiece of technological artwork, which you may hold in your hand and admire its beauty with a magnifying glass.
