This is my first digital camera and I bought it only after spending considerable time reviewing this and other similar cameras, eg. Nikon and Fjuifilm. I know very little about photography, but what I wanted was a camera which is easy to use and will prduce good quality prints.

After a month of using the camera, I can honestly say I am not at all disappointed with it.

I knew beforehand about the need to buy a larger memory card and my 128MB card is more than sufficient. The 16MB card supplied with the camera is for little more than emergency use. I would add though that if you wish to record 30 sec videos at the highest resolution, they will take up more than 20MB.

Do also buy 2 sets of 4 rechargeable batteries, the AAs supplied with the camera won't last you long at all. I went for two sets of 2100 mah batteries and they serve me well.

A final recommendation is to buy an LCD screen protector When you buy the camera it comes with a plastic film covering the screen. I suggest you leave it in place until you buy a proper protector, as the screen is easily scratched.

As for the camera itself, I have printed excellent 8X6 prints - even the 10X8s were good. It is small but not too small to handle, easy to use, very easy to bin unwanted pics and to download to PC.

All in all, I am very impressed with it and I'm glad I bought the A70.

Problems:

I'm not overly impressed with the Canon software , although Photoimpression is excellent.

I do find there is a little shutter lag, which can make shots of moving subjects a little difficult, but in truth you learn to deal with this.
