I have my S2 now for 4 Weeks and shot about 500 Pics.
As i owned quite a few cams (last one was dimage 7hi) i can state that the S2 is the best one and has the best value for money i have seen yet.
Body construction is indeed poor, but i did not aim any disadvantages at this, because i´m no professional who takes his cam into dificult mechanical situations.
The image-quality is the best i´ve seen yet (especially in Raw converted via tiff to jpeg) It has an enormous detailed Picture with magnyfiing depth and detailism(with Tamron 28-75;2,8).
At this point i have to concider that i needed some time to learn seeing the pontential of the S2 pictures.
At a first glance they could not compete with my D7Hi Pictures. Colors seemed to be flat, sharpness was not good.
Disapointed about that i took the pictures through the EBV (PS) and then the sun went up. Sharpening is possible without loosing Picture-information. Optimizing the colors to Monitor-Performance brought out the quality of the super-ccd ship that generates 12 MPIX-pictures (to my point of view the quality of a 10 MPIX-Chip).
So the S2 is not an effect-picture cam.
You are able to set the standard output of the pictures tu any low-end consumer-cam "quality"(high sharpness, powerful colors, high saturation), but the better way to get impressive pictures is the wy through the EBV.
Problems:
some few:
-battery power is not superb
-two cell-types needed (AA and CR 123)
-AF Point not indicated on Auto-AF
-flash sync. "only" up to 1/125
-only 2fps (a bit poor)
