Overall very happy with purchase. Have had this first digital for several months and a couple vacations now. Been using film slrs and compacts for many years.
Software included is good and unless you're really picky you won't need much else, but still prefer other products for organization and editing
.
Full Auto mode is good/acceptable, but achieves wonderful results by tinkering and adjusting settings. I especially love the white balance settings and the auto-orientation feature.

The lense and photos are crisp and good quality.

All the adjustability and instant results builds confidence when using film slrs cameras. I love taking night time and low light photos now.

RAW is a nice feature, but I'm really not using it since the superfine JPEG is so good.

I recommend getting a 256meg flash card and shooting most/all as superfine jpeg large.

whether you just point n shoot or want to use manual or advance features, this camera is really good (for a compact). I'm mostly converted to digital now.

Problems:

No real problems.

Biggest complaint is about the non-usefulness of the aperature priority and speed priority modes. There just are not enough shutter speeds (1/1000 max) or aperatures (2.8/4.9-8.0) for this to useful. If not careful at checking settings can get wrong exposure.

There is a fair amount of noise in the ISO 200 and 400 modes. ISO 50 is superb. It's not horrible though and you don't notice it in prints. I adjust the ISO settings alot due to the aperature/speed lmitations.

Battery life is good for one day of alot of shooting but drops fast when doing lots of flash or looking at photos. Charger is small and travels easy.

Slight chromatic abberations (purple ghost) noticeable around white objects when really zoomed in, not noticeable at normal resolution or normal prints - i assume many compact cameras have this though.
