Decent image, easy to use.
No manual controls at all, strictly Point and shoot. Should have had Aperture and Exposure control
A bit expensive for what it delivers. You are paying for the "coolness factor" rather than the electronics inside
Low noise at ISO 50 ( like 10D at ISO 400) is good enough for prints and for this class of camera. However if you zoom in just a bit on screen, the noise shows through.
Noise at ISO 100 is like 10D at 1600. Either the 10D does a fantastic job at controlling noise or the S400 is good just at ISO 50 and looses it at ISO 100.
Problems:
Gets hot a bit after some shots
Vignetting in some flash shots
Review/shoot switch should actually have been a button, would have made it easier to operate. Also, auto mode shift to shoot mode upon half press of trigger button would have been nice ( like the 10D)
For the money and given the high resolution, I would have expected higher res movie modes.
A bit wider lens would have been real nice.
