For the first time everything comes together. Wide angle 4 x zoom, speed (fast accurate autofocus & minimal shutter lag), low noise at all ISO and good ergos. I have a complete trust when shooting away in hectic situations and complete control when there's time for it. I sold my 35 mm system a year ago, but only now I can feel at ease as this baby has it all (for me). Battery seems to go on forever and the included software is both complete and easy to use; it even includes a long-awaited filter to sort the slight wide angle barrel distortion! (I upgraded to "Pro" version on-line). As my previous cameras (G2 and Coolpix 5000) both had CF memory, I bought an adapter that allowes me to plug the xD card with it inside my CF card adapter. Having two "rolls of film" (xD and CF) inside simultaneously kind of makes feel extra safe
. My previous camera had some surprising niggles in image quality and I paid extra attention testing thoroughly this time. Competition fell always short in some area: G5: noise, not wide enough; DSC-V1: not wide enough, no swivel monitor, no CF; Coolpix 5400: focus in low light, slow, flash issues. It seems that all that testing paid off.
Problems:
Play mode review magnification could be more than just 4 x max. No biggie, though.
