The best ultra zoom camera out there. Great lenses, amazing pics even in doors in low light. Great ease of use (although the camera is fully manual). In short, great buy.
I have some comments:
The camera is not small, you can't put in your pcoket, it's about 50% bigger than DMC-FZ1. Part of size are the bigger lenses diameter.
I bought the camera in Japan + Pansonic 256 MB SD memory card for 63,000 Yen (tax free), it's about 580$, so it's good price. Usually Japan is not cheap, (Sony V1 for 670$!!!), but Panasonic camera are cheap.
Another model is DMC-FZ2, you can get it for 350-360$ (with Panasonic SD memory card includes).
One last note, in Japan usually when you buy a camera, you get a point card (a rebate card), so I bout the camera for 570$ and used the rebate (20%) or 115 $ to buy the camera.
Other intersting camera in Japan are Olympus C755 and C745 (but who's buying Olympus anyway:-
))
In short, if you are into Ultra Zoom, nothing comapres to this camera.

Problems:

The USB cover in the camera does not look too robust to me, it can be broken quite easily (but this is a really a small issue).
Beside that the camera has a quality build.
One more issue, users probably are aware of, is the size, the lenses are big so the camera is big, but if you want great optics, this is the price that you pay..
Beside that, the camera is not cheap, the street price is very close to the list price. I could not hold myself from buying it. But I guess 3-4 months, you can save some bucks....
