I tried this camera because friends were raving about it and I am about to take a month trip to Hawaii. I Had the C2100 and sold it and thought this cam with the 4 mp and 12X IS would be the ticket. I did not expect a great indoors camera, but I was hopeful for awesome outdoor shots.
I know how to use similar cameras and own the 5700, A1 and V1 and prior to that the 707/717 and 7Hi and C2100, C-40. I tried every setting and condition I could-using cameras side by side. I used the Z10 in auto and in other modes and at the lowest ISO. I printed over 100 shots on an HP 7960 and a Canon 830D.
I could see the difference on every shot. I shot each camera at full zoom - 7x, 8x and 12x. The A1 was crisper and sharper even when cropped. Others in my home could separate the sheets into two piles. That clinched it, so I am returning it.
I found it to be well built, lighter than it looked, easy to operate, gnice big type in the menu. A little rough with the EVF, but otherwise nice to handle.
If I did not have these other cameras to compare with, if this was my only camera, I think I might have been very happy with this camera and with the price.
However, with the added memory type, warranty, etc. it was about $800 and I didn't feel I could justify this camera for what seemed like not much of an advantage. I thought with the 50% greater IS that even at 4 mp it would be comparable. But, to me it wasn't.
A fine camera I think as a spare for some who have no IS camera or as a single camera purchase.
It just wasn't the right complement for what I needed, but it felt and operated like a 'real' camera.
Problems:
As above.
