The DX6490 is my first digital camera and I bought it in November last year. I actually went into the shop to buy a FinePix but the shop was out of stock. Kodak is a name that I have always associated with cheap cameras so I hadn't considered buying a Kodak at all. How that opinion has now changed!
I spent a few hours playing with various cameras including test shots outside the shop (they weren't THAT trusting - there was always an assistant with me). The Kodak was by far the best camera and I have never regretted my decision.
I have now taken a little over 300 photos, quite a few with inbuilt flash, and am still on the first battery charge which was done two months ago.
I have been a keen amateur photographer for more than 40 years (mainly using Nikons & Mamiyas) and the DX6490, together with my Canon MP700 printer, has resparked my excitement with photography for the first time in years.
Problems:
The first niggle I have, and this is becoming less important as I learn how to use the camera, is that Kodak was stingy in not providing a pocket-sized instruction manual in the box. For people like me, new to digital cameras, there is a learning curve and a manual on disc is not satisfactory because it is not there when you need it. In Australia the camera costs AUD$999 so I think the few cents that it would cost Kodak to include a printed manual would make it the #1 digital camera.
The second, and again a minor problem, is that the Kodak brand camera case that came with the camera is actually too small for the camera. It can be squeezed in but this can be a pain when you're in a hurry.
Hardly what you would call problems but worth mentioning, I guess.
