I've used many point-n-shoot digicams over the past couple of years, the latest being the canon G-5. Nice camera but I wish I would have waited for phils review of it before I made the purchase. His review was spot on in my opinion. At anyrate, I don't however agree with his conclusions on the E-1. I'm no pro, and I don't make money from photography. I do love photography, and the E-1 to me, is an amazing piece of kit. The build and ergonomics are beautiful, and the concept I feel is a just one. It is true that it's a tough sell to pro's with a large investment in canon or nikon, but it's not a tough sell to someone like me. The camera pretty much speaks for itself. I've noticed none of the resolution/image concerns that phil listed in his conclusion; the noise issue is debatable, and for me it's not an issue. Iso 800 has really nice texture when printed, and anything above that has been shown to clean up nicely with software. There is really no purple fringing to be found, and believe me, as an owner of a G-5, I know what that is. As far as the system being expensive? Just do the math on the other cameras, and remember that the oly lenses are comparable to the best that canon or nikon has to offer ( excluding of course image stabilization). I love this camera and couldn't recommend it more.
