I have used my Z1 for over a month and I am impressed. It's has a lot of the features of an SLR - eg the viewfinder and you can set it to be a manual, or set certain features like the speed, appature or a simulation of the speed of film.
I have tried the camera out in a range of out door settings and have got some lovely shots - see http://www.bushy.org.uk of wildlife, buildings and park. The pictures have been pressed down for easy loading and do not reflect the quyality of the images. (Hey Minolta how about a check in the post).
Some photos have come out as good quality sized as A3 on a laser printer. Really good detai - almost SLR quality. l
I am still getting to grips with the features. I was on the wrong settings to get a heron in flight or a deer bounding with all four feet in the air at the same time. But its down to experience.
Its smallness and light weight mean I can take it where ever I go. I think my wife is going to cite it in the divorce case.
The photo lense is excellent - although for the digital enhancement I recomend a tripod.
It also does things i didn't expect such as allowing me to take shots of TV and computer screens without flicker - although you need to play around with the settings.
So its great.
Problems:
I have some concerns about the construction. The battery door and the access chamber to the cards seem frail. The camera controls are also more mechanical than I would have thought.
My solution has been to take out a 5 year warranty for £80 (approx $120)
