Nikon have finally got it right with this one- and I should know - I've been through more cameras than I care to mention on the quest to perfection! At last a package that combines everything you need without being over-complicated doing it. A decent movie mode with sound, although if you are that keen on movies buy a camcorder - but its nice to be able to take short clips now and then. IT USES AA BATTERIES!!! no mega expensive special batteries that die after a year... At last Nikon have got rid of those bendy pin compact flash cards and gone over to SD/MMC. (Not the cheapest but the most reliable form of storage I find). A nice easy to read menu - when you have less than perfect eyesight a great help. Superb macro capability without the flash overpowering the pix (KONICA /MINOLTA ARE YOU READING THIS!!) Nice sharp pictures with no chromic abberation (OLYMPUS ARE YOU READING THIS!!) One review site commented on the noisy indoor images but I found none to speak of. A good general all rounder which should please the first time user plus the more hardened not so easy to please person like me as well. Well done Nikon keep up the good work - will keep Fujifilm with their noisy interpolated image sensors on their toes!!
