My earlier views regarding the excellence of the A80 have not changed one bit. However, BEWARE! Read on below.
Problems:
I wish to caution users of this excellent camera that its electronics are very susceptible to malfunction and damage by moisture. My A80's lcd went blank and then the camera could not take pics anymore due to moisture screwing up the electronics. I sent it back to Canon (Canada).
Bad news! Canon (Canada) does not cover damage. I don't know whether damage is covered by Canon elsewhere. Repair cost is much too high compared to original purchase price. How about phoning Canon and hearing it for yourself.
So take special care! Avoid rain or water-spray/mist, however slight, like the plague! Always store your camera in a dry closed dry space containing some drying agent like silica gel. I know this is plain common sense. But, all too often, we are liable to forget to do this.
