i cannot get too excited about this camera, at least not after using a friends 10D and another's D70. it does feel adequately sturdy considering how and what it's made of, but i am left somewhat disenchanted in the end. the few prevalent missing features combined with the cheesy feeling just don't work for me. it's noisy and it vibrates excessively. the kit lens does not match the sensor's ability + it flares like the zoom lenses i used 20 years ago.
given that the images are very nice, i would rather opt for a more fully featured unit if i am going to go with a larger camera and then i will have the features that i desire to boot.
Problems:
never had the error 99 or any failures.
i did find the overall construction shoddy. i especially did not like the compact flash door and the battery door (easy to bump when handling and leave slightly ajar).
viewfinder seems quite distorted, but i do like the info in there.
menus and navigation are not up to the canon standard in the "S" and "G" series.
