Upgraded from the S400. The video is now twice as good in image quality but that's about all that makes it better than the older model. An extra megapixel doesn't even make a difference in any size bigger than 8x10. I do crop my images often and the 5 MP helps maintain the quality. Image quality is not the best. It gets noisy in dark areas. Nothing beats the ultra compact size though because it means that I can have a camera with me at all times. I put it in the soft canon case and put it on my belt. Whenever I need to take a picture I am ready right away. I saw the San Jose Mercury News Photojournalist use it on a photo assignment and liked how they came out in the paper. I bought one and get my pictures published in a newspaper also. Good enough for 90% of my photo assignments. Zoom is great! Continuous shot mode is perfect for catching the right moment. I use it with the underwater casing and I take photos as well as video underwater!
Problems:
You can't zoom while taking video. A lot of cases I need the ISO to go to 800 to shoot indoors without flash. Can't adjust the shutterspeed or aperature. Start up time is slow.
