Superb Camera, Images are clear and true to life, super color depth and easy to handle.
Has heaps of manual settings if you feel the need.
I spent 4months searching for a compact high quality 5mp cam & almost purchased a G5, but i really wanted a pocket camera.
The 500 is super easy to use, reasonable battery life, fast focus, low shutter lag. Easy to download pics to your pc.
I have used the IXUS 300 in the past, and this is a jump up in every respoect to that.
I gave my parents 5 minutes instruction on how to use it for their last holiday, next I knew they had taken 500+ pics and now they want one.
I have compared the images to photos taken with a 35mm camera and I cant tell the difference.
I am wrapped! You wont regret buying this digital camera.
Problems:
If I had to be picky, id say that the mode select ring is not firm enough and sometimes you can accidently change it when placeing it into the camera bag.
32Meg CF card supplied is enough to get started but I ended up buying a 512Meg CF card...
Its not the cheapest 5mp camera around, but well worth the extra $$$
