Blue fringing is a huge problem with the G5. My first reaction to the G5 was very positive. In general, image quality appears on the surface to be excellent. But after taking around 25 test shots, I started to notice blue/purple fringing on objects within photos. Upon closer inspection of all the photos that I took, 10 of the 25 had enough blue/purple fringing on objects in the photos (like on a white shirt, or a telephone pole, or leaves against clouds, etc), that I decided to return the G5 and move up to a digital SLR from a different company, after finding the G5 problem described as 'Purple Fringing (Chromatic Aberrations)' in the review for the G5 on this site.
Problems:
Purple Fringing (Chromatic Aberrations) was a huge problem for me -- so much so that I returned the G5 and upgraded to a digital SLR.
