I purchased the P100 after a year and a half with a Canon PowerShot S45. My desire was for a faster camera to help catch those fleeting photos of my 2 year old. The Sony is definitely fast! The drawback as with many compact/subcompact cameras is marginal indoor performance. I'm not completely sure if the poor performance is due to camera shake, weak flash or too slow of a shutter speed, but the chances of getting what I consider to be a good photo were about 50/50. The majority of images were just too soft for my liking. I tried everything, manual mode, faster shutter, increased & decreased sharpness, nothing seemed to help. I loved the small size of the camera, but it doesn't do much good to take it everywhere if the pictures you get aren't usable. I finally decided to sell the camera on ebay and try something else. I was really hoping Sony would come out with a firmware update that would address the aggressive anti-noise processing, but my patience wore out.
Problems:
Soft photos, marginal low-light/indoor performance.
