I just returned from a 23 day trip to NZ and OZ. This was my first chance to really work with the 20D steadily. After a few days, everything just seemed to be where it should. It amazed me how quickly it focused and shot. My pictures are just travel record shots (2900) and there were just a handful of blown shots. I took the 16~35 f/2.8, 24~70 f/2.8, 70~200 f/2.8 and 50 f/1.4....almost only used the 24~70. Never took the 580EX out of its case. Some night shots were very impressive in the major cities. Camera was so fast that I caught a street performer snapping a bullwhip at a flower in his hand and a cigarette...both shots caught the severed flower or cigarette before they dropped more than about 18-20". And I'm 67.

Problems:

I have a couple of comments...first, I carry the camera in a cross chest/underarm fashion on a Tamrac strap that is easy on the neck and shoulders. I was amazed the number of times the main dial got twisted to a new shooting mode...that the camera was frequently unintentionally turned off, just by its brushing against my side and despite all objections to the contrary...I like to see the ISO in the viewfinder or on the top LCD. I'm always running inside turning it to 800 then going outside and shooting a couple at the high ISO. These side tours have very limited free time at stops. The DOF preview button seemed always to be right where I put my left hand...hand does not have full function. But all in all it was a great experience and I was never disappointed in its speed and performance.
