I had the camera for about two years and was reasonably satisfied with it. Then it died and the problems began (see problem area below). I now see others have had the same problem, perhaps caused by accidentally turning on the camera without removing the lens cap. If doing so permanently breaks the camera, then the camera was not properly designed.
Problems:
One day I started to take a picture and got a message that said "system error". The camera would not work and the lens would not close. When I called Nikon tech support they said all I could do was send it in for repairs. After numerous e-mail exchanges I gave up and bought a Canon. Nikon does not stand behind their Coolpix models.
