It's my little and amazing "toy" for quick photos and adventures. It's great and I also found it with a good price.
Charming, solid, excellent photo quality and Compact Flash storage, that is great for who use other pro cameras as I do, with the same kind of memory.
I love to keep it in my pocket!
Here is my review for the SD500, that says a lot more about the Elph (Ixus) Canon's, and specially about this excellent camera:
"I'm really disappointed that still exist people that write opinions (reviews is too big word) without to have even handled a camera, or without to know what they're talking about.
For example the last one says that this 7Mp camera have worst quality than some 2Mp by Nikon... First the resolution (Mpxls) is not the main factor that determines the image quality, there are 2 Mp with great i.q. and some 8 or 7 with a poor one. In some way is eve n natural, specially when the high resolution is got putting more and more millions of pixels in the same a little ccd.
The more frequent problems are image noise and color aberration, specially if the lens can't help so much to fix it. And is typical of ultra compact cameras to have little space for both... This is why I think that if you want a small camera is better to accept some pixel of resolution less... or some pixel of noise more! This is also why after that I have deeply tryed this PS SD500 and the Sony DSC-P200 (anyway I think the best ultra compact 7Mp), I decided to keep my Canon PS S500 that is "only" 5Mp and with a little 1.5" lcd, but with less problems in image quality. If I want to get more, I have to use my G6 (always Canon), that is bigger and is also the best image quality you can get from a 7Mp compact semi-pro camera.
And I can make a little better if I bring with me the SLR Nihon D70, that even if is only 6Mp, is always a professional tool (low end, but good enough).
Anyway, dear friend that advises Nikon, Sony, Panasonic instead of this Canon, I think you're a little confused... Nikon and Panasonic don't produce noting comparable to this kind of portable camera, and the Sony's DSC-P serie is the only true alternative to the S and SD (or Ixus) Canon series, and I advice you the DSC-P100 5Mp that is excellent in every direction, but most of the Canon S500 (or Ixus 500), that is very similar for performances and image quality, but it has also the advantage to use CF cards, and if you own also professional cameras, you'll aprreciate this fact."
Problems:
Maybe some more manual control would be nice... maybe is better this way semi-auto for this kind of little camera that must be point 'n' shoot.
