This is the first digital camera I've owned, being an old school
manual SLR user, but I love the feel of the camera, nice and solid
and well built.

It takes a bit to get used to navigating your way around the
various functions, but once you get the knack it all falls into
place. The swivel lcd screen is very handy and I've found the
picture quality crisp and great for my purposes.

The wide angle lens is more than useful and the macro function is
out of this world and I also like the fact that you can screw on
filters to the lens which also protect it.

Problems:

I got the camera in December 2004, after 2 months of use with no
problems, it started playing up intermittently. The camera
sometimes wouldn't turn on, or it would turn on and then would
register a flat battery (although on full charge) or the functions
would freeze up. I took it to Olympus under warranty, and they
"replaced mode dial and flexible cable". I found the Olympus
service great, I bought the camera in Singapore but had it
warrantied in Australia without any dramas and just had to show
them my receipt.

I have heard on other forums that some of the Singapore
delivered cameras had a "mode dial" problem. It was very
disappointing to have the camera fail on me as I was more than
happy with it until then. But now it is fixed and hopefully it won't
play up again. I guess the more advanced cameras get the more
that can go wrong with them (unlike my 1970s Nikon FM still
going strong 30 years later).
