I've been using this camera for about 9 months and have been very pleased with the results. I was rather worried initially with the reviewers complaining about noise, but in practice, even at ISO 800, this hasn't been a problem. I didn't experience the CF battery drain either.
I shoot at 12 MP Fine and keep them "as negatives", usually resampling to 3 MP for on-screen viewing or 10x15 printing (gives much better 3 MP pictures than what you get from a 3 MP camera), and reserving the 12 MP for larger A3-A2 prints (which come out razor sharp with little PP).

The lens is fast and quite versatile, from excellent macros to outdoors, and with practically no vignetting or distortion lends itself well to panoramas. Skin tones are also weel captured as a recent wedding shoot demonstrated.

Size-wise, this camera is as big as I was ready to go, and given the quality of the results, I don't miss an SLR :)
You can go full auto with this camera, but this would be quite a waste as the manual options are extensive and give quite a bit of freedom.

Problems:

First camera I got had button problems, which is why I removed half a point, otherwise construction feels very sturdy, and I haven't had any problem with the replacement one.
