I am very impressed with the Canon S2. I sold my S1, which I was pleased with, in order to have more mega pixels as I crop many photos. The S2 has a much quieter zoom and the ergonomics are great. I am also finding the EVF much better than that on the S1.
The larger LCD screen is very helpful.
I am getting great photos and the zoom so far seems fast and accurate when focusing.
I like the fact that the flash does not automatically pop up.
Colors, especially blues are super in the photos.
The camera is not the best for someone just starting out. Because of the many bells and whistles folks should have a bit of knowledge of shutter speeds, f-stops, etc. or I could see them getting a bit frustrated by the menues etc. If you have used a 35mm or other digital cameras this one will be simple to learn.
Image stabilizer is spot on. Excellent 12X optical zoom.
Canon has made a great product.
Problems:
I can see why folks are complaining about the small rubber cover for the USB cable. I can see it breaking quite easy over time.
