Just bought the S2IS last week and have taken quite a few pictures over the weekend. I upgraded from a HP618 that I'd taken over 6000 pictures with, but needed something faster and with a longer zoom and didn't want to fork over the big bucks for a true D-SLR. The S2IS is filling this need. Pictures are pretty good. Zooming in on a squirrel at 30 yards is neat. Took some pictures of a aircraft cockpit while landing and the image stabilization managed to salvage a bumpy landing.
Two things I don't like so far. The electronic viewfinder is hard to focus or my blended bifocal glasses keeps me fiddling with the diopter adjustment.
The other is the location of the "Menu" button. It's right under the middle of my thumb and it's already becoming annoying as you prepare to take a picture and the menu pops up.
Otherwise I'm pleased with speed and quietness. Especially being able to mute the shutter sound so as to not disturb wildlife.
