Got mine with the £100 cashback which made the D70 plus 18-70 only £589. For that price I think it's a bargain.
The feel of the camera is what made me buy it more than anything else. It felt natural to hold and of very solid construction. I had a 300D Canon for a couple of weeks which was so so but nowehere near as nice to hold as the D70. I also tried the 350D but that was too tiny for me.
The in built flash seems to outperform the Canon offering IMHO. It also has the ability to select metering modes which is not available in the 300D.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.
Problems:
Wish it had mirror lockup for my macro work.
Had problems with a dirty sensor very early on after using a terrible Hurricane Blower from Jessops. Avoid at all costs as they blow out tiny rubber particles on the sensor.
Fortunately I live with 25 miles on the Nikon centre and they offered to clean it for me for nothing. Great service!
